Evans Gets The Offer

Since Tyreke Evans emerged a couple years ago as the top shooting guard in the Class of 2008, he's made it clear that North Carolina is his leader. Now he has a scholarship offer from the Tar Heels.

Tyreke Evans, a 6-4 wing from Aston (Pa.) American Christian, received a scholarship offer late last week from North Carolina. His brother, Reggie, confirmed to Inside Carolina over the weekend that Tyreke had indeed received the offer from his childhood favorite.

When asked about the UNC offer, Tyreke said, "That's the one I've been waiting for."

Evans said he had no other visits officially scheduled at this point, but he'd probably take a few more before narrowing his list and making a decision.

His brother indicated that a trip to Chapel Hill is expected in the near future. North Carolina is already scheduled to receive visits from at least two other Top 10 juniors at its season-opening Late Night festivities on Oct. 13

Evans is also strongly considering Louisville (where he visited this past weekend), UConn and Villanova -- while Virginia, Texas, Illinois and Memphis are just a few of the other schools showing interest.
