Hemby Tears ACL

CLEMSON, S.C. – North Carolina defensive back Jordan Hemby suffered a torn ACL during the Tar Heels' 52-7 loss at Clemson on Saturday. He is listed as doubtful to return this season.

"Once the swelling in the knee goes down, he will have surgery in approximately two to three weeks," a UNC spokesperson said.

Hemby, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound redshirt freshman from Morganton, N.C., was considered by many to be the best high school defensive back coming out of the state in 2005.

He had performed well on special teams and earned more playing time at cornerback this season, recording six tackles -- five against the Tigers -- and a fumble recovery.
