Jones Remains a Tar Heel

Dwight Jones knows the exact time he was informed that North Carolina, the school he verbally committed to in February, would not retain head coach John Bunting after this season.

"I found out at 9:06," said Jones. "I told my mom and it surprised both of us."

Jones, a 6-foot-3 205-pound wide receiver from Burlington (N.C.) Cummings, hasn't decided his next step, but for the time being he remains a Tar Heel.

"Right now, I'm still with Carolina 100-percent, but I'm going to talk to my parents and coaches and everything and make what I think is the best decision for me," said Jones. "I don't know, but probably in a couple of weeks I'll probably know."

No member of the North Carolina coaching staff has contacted Jones, but he said he plans to call his recruiting coordinator, Marvin Sanders, tomorrow.

Before verbally committing to the Tar Heels, Jones held scholarship offers from N.C. State, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. Following his pledge, other schools jumped aboard, including a top SEC schools such as Tennessee and Florida.
