On the larger rotation this season -

"It's fine with me. We did a lot of things - pushed the ball well. We'll take this game as a lesson and take what Coach has to say and improve from there."

On comparing last year's team to this year -

"This year and last year are totally two different teams. Last year we had to make our mark, this year our mark's already there for us. But I still think we'll try to do the things we did last year - working hard in practice and listening to coach."

On the fast tempo -

"I'm great with that. I love that. That's the way Coach Williams plays and when I was recruited that's one of the reasons why I came here."

On employing the full court press tonight -

"With the trapping up court and pressuring the ball, it kind of took them out of what they're used to and make it difficult for them."

On the deep rotation -

"There's a lot more rest so when you're out on the court you can put it all out there and you don't have to worry about not having a sub to come in for you because we're loaded at every spot."

On possibly setting the UNC scoring record this season -

"We need to play defense and we have the depth to do that if we pressure and play fast - we played real fast tonight, gave up a lot of easy shots and easy boards - but that's a realistic goal we have and we have the talent to do it."

On Brandan Wright -

"He's an unbelievable talent. The body that he has is pretty special watching him go up and dunk with his head on and his long arms almost touching the top of the backboard. He can do a lot offensively finishing, since no one is going to block his shot. Defensively he can bother a lot of shots and once he gets stronger he's going to be a really special player."

On sitting a long stretch in the first half -

"The first half I sat I think like 12 straight minutes, and it's something I've never done. Coach asked me 'Are you tight?' and I said 'A little bit.' And he laughed and told me I couldn't be because I'm only 20 years old. ... I just went back in, felt different, but you just go play hard and try not to think about it ... It's not going to bother me. Once you're on the court, you're on the court. You're not thinking about how long you sat. Once you're playing everything is focused on the game."

On the team's performance tonight -

"First time playing against somebody different than ourselves and first time playing in front of our fans. There are some pregame jitters and guys are a little antsy and that's why the first couple minutes weren't that crisp. But the good thing was we defended during that time, got some turnovers and got it going. Once that happened we never lost the lead the rest of the game."

On the rotation -

"Coach told us he had it planned out before the game. ... He knew he was going to try certain lineups and he said that's not going to continue. It worked out well, everybody got to play, everybody got some time, which is good. It'll be interesting to see what it's like the next exhibition game."

On the competition in practice -

"Practice is unbelievably competitive. As you can see there's so much talent on this team. And a lot of guys have competitive attitudes. Everybody wants to play, everybody wants to start, there's no question about that. The competitiveness is high in practice, but we all know we want to do whatever's best for this team - coach preaches that every day and that's what's most important."

On the faster tempo and deeper rotation -

"It's definitely interesting, just to know that I can go hard for four minutes and have someone come in after me and continue the process."

Do you expect the even quicker pace to yield more breakaway dunks?

"Hopefully. Hopefully we can get some steals and highlights - that's definitely the plan."

With so many players and clear roles yet to be established, what is Coach Williams telling you to do at this point?

"Do what we do. Play defense, play hard, play smart and play together and everything else will fall into place."
