- In yet another convincing win, Burlington (N.C.) Cummings defeated Reidsville (N.C.), 39-21, to advance to the NCHSAA 2A State Championship game. Dwight Jones caught three passes and ran two of them (60- and 80-yarders) in for touchdowns. He also picked off a pass. He ended the night with 140 yards.
- Major Targets: Durham (N.C.) Riverside upset another opponent to advance to the NCHSAA 4AA State Championship game. This time, the victim was Garner (N.C.), by a score of 15-13. In the semifinal victory, Weslye Saunders was the X-factor running in a 3-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion, and catching a 13-yard touchdown pass. Also, with 43 seconds left in the game, Saunders recovered the Garner onside kick. Saunders ended the night with three rushes for five yards and caught three passes for 87 yards.
