Sturdivant, a 6-foot-3 220-pound jumbo athlete from Oakboro (N.C.) West Stanly, will be one-of-three quarterbacks in a rotation for North Carolina's Shrine Bowl squad.
"We're going to run a lot from the I-formation," said Sturdivant. "We're going to try to run the ball first and just go off the run."
After seeing reps at wide receiver in practice, there's a possibility that Sturdivant could line up at wideout during the game Saturday.
"I was just filling in at wideout [during practice]," said Sturdivant. "They needed some people out there, so I was just filling in. You might see me out there [during the game], but I don't know."
Sturdivant says he's "all set" for his December graduation and will enroll in classes at UNC on January 5th.
A few weeks back, Sturdivant hosted Butch Davis, North Carolina's new head coach, for an in-home visit.
"We were just talking about [how] it's a good place to be at Carolina, it's going in a good direction – all that kind of stuff," said Sturdivant. "He told me why he chose North Carolina and he's glad for me to be coming down there.
"I like him. I'm excited to get down there. I felt like he was straight forward."
Like the previous staff, Davis will plug Sturdivant in at linebacker when he gets to Carolina.
