Four-Star WR Setting Up UNC Visit

Alphonso Bryant is one of the top wide receiver prospects in South Florida this year. The Homestead (Fla.) High standout is readying for an in-state all-star game and then will re-focus on his recruitment.

"I'm leaving tomorrow for the East/West All-Star game in Orlando," Bryant said. "I'll be up there for a little while and then when I get back, it'll be time to take my last two visits."

The talented receiver, who stands 6-feet and 185 pounds, has already taken visits to Arizona State, UCF, and Rutgers.

"Arizona State was nice," he said. "They got a new coaching staff now, though. UCF was nice and it's close to home.

"But I really liked Rutgers. Two of my teammates already committed there. The location's great. It's close to New York City. The players were real cool. They probably have 25 or so players from the Miami area on the team and they're recruiting a bunch of guys from down here again this year. I just felt real comfortable there."

Next up is a visit to Florida State, which will then be followed by a trip to another ACC school.

"I'm going to Florida State for a visit next weekend," he said. "That'll be the fourth one. My last one will go to North Carolina. We just need to set the actual date for that one."

Bryant said his interest in UNC is fairly new.

"They started recruiting me real hard last month," he said. "One of the coaches came by the school and I've been talking to the new receivers coach. Butch Davis is a good coach and I'll be checking them out."

Bryant said only three schools are remaining on his list of choices.

"I've narrowed it down to Florida State, Rutgers, and North Carolina," he said. "I'm not really looking at Miami anymore. They've gotten a lot of other receivers."
