Jones Visits, Reschedules Official

North Carolina rescheduled Dwight Jones' official visit, which was originally scheduled for this past weekend. However, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound wide receiver still traveled to Chapel Hill on Sunday to take in the Tar Heels' basketball game against Florida State.

"They rescheduled it for the 26th [of January], but I was at the basketball game" said Jones. "I really don't know [why they rescheduled it], but I believe there was a misunderstanding about the dates I was going to come up."

The trip wasn't wasted, though, as Jones was introduced to Butch Davis' assistant coach hires including Jones' position coach.

"I met all the new coaches and everything," said Jones. "I talked to the receiver coach [Charlie Williams].

"I liked [Williams]. He coached at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he coached at Miami. We were just talking about he wants to win a national championship and if I come up there he'll make me a better player."

Meeting Williams and the other new members of UNC's coaching staff has strengthened Jones' feelings for the Tar Heels, but he still plans on taking official visits to other schools.

"I'm still committed right now," said Jones. "I'm just going to see what the other coaches are all about."

This weekend Jones will officially visit Tennessee and he'll travel to Clemson the following weekend. He said the Tar Heels, Vols and Tigers comprise his final three schools.

In-between his campus travels, Jones is anchoring Burlington (N.C.) Cummings' basketball team, which is currently sporting a 10-0 record.
