Davis Considering Commitment Switch

In response to a lack of communication, Emanuel Davis is now contemplating de-committing from the Tar Heels and verbally committing to East Carolina.

"Right now, I'm just pretty much just sitting and debating ECU or [North] Carolina," said Davis. "I haven't really gotten much word from North Carolina, so it's looking like ECU a little bit."

Davis, a 5-foot-11 190-pound safety from Manteo (N.C.), committed to the Tar Heels in July. However, since Butch Davis' hiring, the communication has continuously decreased.

"I haven't talked to anybody from [UNC] in a while and it's just a little awkward so I took my [official] visit to ECU," said Davis. "I liked it up there [at ECU] a lot. It's looking like I might switch commitments sometime soon."

East Carolina is waiting while Davis evaluates his options.

"They just said they're not rushing me to make a decision," said Davis. "They just said it's pretty much whatever I want to do. They want me to just make sure I'm 100-percent positive of my decision."

Davis, who said he hasn't spoke to anyone at UNC in approximately a month, plans on contacting North Carolina very soon.

"Basically, I'm going to try to get in touch with [the coaches at UNC] as soon as possible and tell them my thoughts on everything," said Davis. "We'll see where it goes from there."

Davis' UNC recruiting contact, Danny Pearman, was among the assistant coaches dismissed during the regime change at North Carolina. Also, Davis hasn't taken or scheduled an official visit to UNC.
