Backpacks, containers banned from Kenan Stadium

CHAPEL HILL --- University of North Carolina public safety and athletic game operations personnel are advising football fans attending Kenan Stadium this year to leave all backpacks and other similar containers at home.

The University is maintaining increased levels of security that were implemented a year ago.

Alcoholic beverages, backpacks, computer cases, coolers, outside food and beverages, packages or containers and weapons are prohibited from Kenan Stadium.

All bags and other containers will be inspected at the gate before spectators are allowed to enter the stadium. All spectators and others credentialed to be inside the stadium are subject to inspection.

"The University, Athletics and Department of Public Safety will continue efforts to insure that our visitors are as safe as possible during their time here," says Director of Public Safety Derek Poarch. "This process is designed to facilitate that. We greatly appreciate everyone©ˆs cooperation."

Fans are encouraged to visit www.TarHeelBlue.com for parking and other gameday related information.
