Holland Firms Up Commitment

While keeping out of recruiting limelight for almost a month, Cam Holland firmed up his verbal commitment to North Carolina.

"I never de-committed from North Carolina," said Holland. "I did take a look at Pitt and a few other schools, but all that did was reinforce my decision. I would say my commitment is firm."

Holland, a 6-foot-3 270-pound offensive guard from Pittsburgh (Pa.) Perry Traditional, orally committed to UNC in July, but softened his pledge after John Bunting's dismissal.

Holland says he's done with visits and that the plan is to send his National Letter of Intent to Chapel Hill on Signing Day.

Continued meetings with the new members of the Tar Heels' coaching staff helped seal the deal.

"I've met with the o-line coach, Coach [Sam] Pittman, and actually earlier today, I met with the offensive coordinator [John Shoop]," said Holland. "And I'm supposed to meet with Coach [Butch] Davis later tonight.

"[The meeting with Pittman] went well. We talked. He let me know what he was about and I told him about myself.

"The meeting was kind of brief [with Shoop]. With both just kind of tried to get to know each other."

Holland and his parents will host Davis for an in-home visit tonight.
