Elite Miami WR Holds UNC Offer

After a junior campaign that concluded with setting various Dade County records, Aldarius Johnson has naturally garnered the attention of college coaching staffs throughout the nation.

"I have offers from Miami, Florida, Florida State, LSU, and North Carolina," said Johnson. "USC and Notre Dame are mailing me and all, but they haven't offered, yet."

Johnson, a 6-foot-3 195-pound wide receiver from Miami (Fla.) Northwestern, was named to the First Team 6A All-State and All-Dade County teams following last season. On the year he caught 72 passes for 1,361 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Along with a very talented roster which also includes the nation's top defensive tackle, Marcus Forston, Johnson helped Northwestern to an undefeated season which produced a 6A State Championship.

Like most of his teammates, Johnson is focused on continuing the undefeated streak and repeating as state champions. Therefore, recruiting has been placed on the backburner.

Nevertheless, Johnson has developed a leader.

"I like Florida," said Johnson. "I like their offense and their facilities. They get all of their receivers involved in their spread offense."

However, Johnson isn't sure when he'll make a verbal commitment and says he will explore all of his options before deciding.

One school Johnson said he is intrigued by is North Carolina.

"They've got Butch Davis and he did well here at Miami," he said.

Johnson says there's a chance he might visit North Carolina over the summer, but thus far he knows will definitely visit Florida and LSU.
