After his football season ended in the playoffs, Euwell played center for Southwest's basketball team, averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Euwell most recently participated in spring track, where he ran the 100- and 200-meter dash. He qualified for the regional track meet this past weekend, but had to skip the event to take his SAT. Euwell's fastest 100 time was 11.0 seconds, while 22.4 seconds was his top time in the 200.
Track has knocked Euwell's weight down to 215 pounds, but he's working hard in the weight room to gain that back and them some.
"I've just been following [UNC's] workout," said Euwell. "They do a lot more reps than I'm normally used to, but everything going good."
Last Saturday was Euwell's third attempt at the SAT. A solid score will greatly improve his chances of qualifying.
"I'm working on both [my grade point-average and SAT score]," said Euwell. "I need at least 20 points higher on my SAT and I'm working on my GPA."
If everything falls into place, Euwell will arrive on campus in time for the second summer session.
Euwell keeps in constant contact with the UNC coaching staff. He most recently spoke to primary recruiter Kenny Browning on Tuesday.
"He was just making sure I'm keeping my grades up," said Euwell. "He asked how the SAT went and how workouts are going."
Euwell will come into UNC as an outside linebacker.
"I just want to get down there, work hard, do what I'm told, and see the field," said Euwell.
