Heels Get No. 3 Overall Seed; Host Regional

Less than 24 hours after claiming its first ACC title since 1990, North Carolina was awarded the No. 3 overall seed by the NCAA Selection Committee on Monday. Carolina will host East Carolina, Western Carolina and Jacksonville in the Chapel Hill Regional this weekend at Boshamer Stadium.

The Tar Heels (48-12) will face Jacksonville (34-26) of the Atlantic Sun Friday at 6 p.m.

East Carolina (39-21) and Western Carolina (40-18) play at 2 p.m.

"It's a tremendous advantage," UNC coach Mike Fox said. "Ninety-two percent of teams that have hosted have advanced. That's an incredible number. But in order to have that home field advantage, the fans have to turn out."

Only Rams Club members and those who have purchased baseball tickets in the past (other than the ECU game) can buy them until Tuesday at 5 p.m. Those eligible can call the athletic ticket office at 1-800-722-4335 beginning Tuesday morning. Any unsold tickets will go on sale at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets will be available on an all-session basis only until Thursday at 1 p.m. Then individual game tickets as well as all-session tickets will be available.

All-session reserved bleacher seats are $50 for adults and $35 for students (age three through college age). All-session general admission standing room tickets on the grassy hill are $40 for adults and $25 students. When individual game tickets go on sale Thursday at 1 p.m., reserved bleacher seats are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Individual game general admission standing room tickets on the grassy hill are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

The all-session pass does not include a ticket to the potential seventh game Monday, June 4. If a seventh game is necessary, a separate individual game ticket will be needed. No outside food or beverages will be allowed in the stadium.

Gates will open two hours before the first game each day, and the stadium will be cleared between games per NCAA regulations. Parking will be available in the Ramshead Deck for $5 per day and at the Smith Center at no charge.
