Although UNC will be holding their one-day camp Saturday, King, a 6-foot-1 190-pound athlete from Stockbridge (Ga.), doesn't expect to participate.
Over the summer, King plans to hit the camping circuit hard. His team will camp at Alabama and Georgia. Individually, he's looking at Auburn, Clemson, and Florida.
Thigpen, King's primary recruiter, keeps in contact regularly.
"We just talk about different things like life, where I'll be playing – stuff like that," said King. "He asks me how my grades are doing, how's practice, and everything else."
King is being recruited as an athlete with an emphasis on running back. He's also being considered for defensive back.
Thigpen visited Stockbridge High School twice during the Evaluation Period, including the Tigers' spring game last Friday.
"He couldn't talk to me [because of NCAA rules], but I saw him there," said King.
King, who has collected approximately 20 scholarship offers, has begun to establish some favorites.
"Right now, [I'm favoring] UNC, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Purdue – that's pretty much it right now; I really don't have any favorites, I'm open to everybody," said King. "Those schools are ahead of the rest, though. They keep in touch and seem like they really want me."
King said he isn't sure of his timetable for a verbal commitment.
