Thigpen and Shoop then made a cameo at Stockbridge (Ga.) High School's spring game where Bass, a 6-foot-3 205-pound quarterback, put on a show.
Bass has yet to receive a UNC scholarship offer.
"[Thigpen] didn't say there's anything they're waiting for, he just keeps telling me it's coming," said Bass. "I asked him [last Friday], he said it's coming."
Bass has already collected offers from Akron, Air Force, Indiana, Ohio, Purdue, and Toledo.
Things could get interesting if UNC does put a scholarship offer on the table.
"Like I tell Coach Thig, I'm just waiting on the good news," said Bass. "When I hear it, I'll be ready for it.
"I'm not sure [what would happen if they offered]. I like them a lot, so I don't know."
However, Bass is approaching the recruiting process with an open mind.
"I'm pretty much open to everybody; I really don't have one favorite," said Bass. "I'm just looking at everybody."
Bass doesn't have a timetable for making a verbal commitment.
"If there's one place where my heart is, I might just commit then to end it all," said Bass. "If there's not, then I'll probably take it all the way to Signing Day."
In the meantime, Bass is focusing on his summer camping schedule.
"I'm going to talk to my coach and see who's really after me," said Bass. "Who's ever really interested, I'll probably get to their camp and then do team camps."
In addition to his two UNC visits, Bass has made trips to Georgia Tech, Louisville, South Carolina, Wake Forest, and Western Kentucky.
