UNC-USC: Rain Suspends Game Two

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Due to inclement weather Saturday, game two of the 2007 NCAA Chapel Hill Super Regional was suspended in the middle of the seventh inning with South Carolina holding an 8-5 lead over No. 3 national seed North Carolina.The game will be resumed at 2:30 p.m. Sunday on ESPN2.

Should the Gamecocks hold on for the victory, the decisive game three will be played as scheduled at 7 p.m. also on ESPN2.

South Carolina's Justin Smoak is 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two RBI and three runs scored, while Tim Federowicz is 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Tar Heels.

USC starter Arik Hempy allowed five runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings. UNC's Alex White gave up six runs on five hits in 3 1/3 innings.

The Gamecocks opened up a six-run lead in the bottom of the fourth, before Carolina came back with one in the fifth and two in the seventh to trim the lead to the current three-run margin.
