UNC coach Mike Fox

Opening remarks -

We were beat by a better team tonight. That's all I can really say. Their pitching was on tonight. I thought their hitters looked good. They made us pay when we made pitching mistakes by leaving the ball up. It's a two-out-of-three series so we'll show up ready tomorrow. We still have one more game where we can be better than them. We'll show up tomorrow.

On being tight -

You have to tip your hat to the other team. We are not tight. You cannot be tight when you're playing for the national championship. We're not making any excuses. You have to tip your hat to the other team. The other guy was out there was throwing strike after strike. He was hard to beat tonight. I credit them for getting the job done.

On not pitching Wooten and Carignan -

They have pitched a lot out here (Omaha). Hopefully giving them the day off will benefit us in the long run. The other guys got a shot tonight and they just didn't get the job done.

UNC left fielder Reid Fronk

On Jorge Reyes -

He was throwing his best fastball at us. His fastball was going all over the plate. He made us hit his pitches. We just couldn't string anything together.

On runners left on base -

When we have chances to move runners up we have to get the job done. It's for the national championship we have to get those guys in. Like coach said we still have two more games to go. We'll be better tomorrow.

UNC pitcher Alex White

On his performance on the mound -

It was better than the last outing but not good. I made mistakes. When I kept the ball in between the knees I was getting ground balls. I just left the ball up.

OSU coach Pat Casey

Opening remarks -

We're obviously excited about winning the first game. We're very well aware we have to win again. We're very proud of our club. We got a tremendous start from freshman Jorge Reyes. We're getting some great performances. We've got a lot of guys doing a lot of good things.

On whether winning has become ‘old' -

It felt good. It's not getting old at all. We had the championship trophy here yesterday (during the press conference). I just want it, and I put our team one game closer to it.

On team's confidence -

I like to allow our players to be aggressive. When you're comfortable, you play confident. When you have players like Darwin Barney and Mitch Canham, you allow them to do some of the things we need to do. I think they like having the freedom to do what they need to do.

On whether there was talk about pulling Joe Paterson -

We thought about a lot of things. One of them was winning the game.

OSU first baseman Jordan Lennerton

On his home run -

I was just looking for a fastball. He threw me one belt high in the middle of the plate. I knew I got a piece of it, but I was not sure how it would travel with the wind.

OSU shortstop Darwin Barney

On the team's chemistry -

For a club like us, we build off chemistry. It takes a spark to get us going. Our team really feeds off each other. It gives us confidence at the plate.

OSU third baseman Lonnie Lechelt

On offense from the bottom of the order -

I think the lower order of the lineup has done a great job. One through nine through our lineup, we can swing at any point.
