UNC Interested in Md. ATH

After stumbling upon his highlight tape, Tommy Thigpen immediately began to recruit Cameron Chism, a 6-foot-1 180-pound athlete from Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara

"[Thigpen] saw my highlights, [and] then started talking to me," said Chism. "He text [messages] me just about every day. I've talked to him on the phone a couple of times.

"[He's talked about] just coming down to for a camp or coming to see the campus."

While he doesn't think attending a camp will be possible, Chism is considering a visit to Chapel Hill.

"I'd have to check my schedule, I'm not sure," said Chism. "I'd like to go down there, though."

Currently, Chism is focused on scheduling a trip to Boston College. He has been able to make trips to Connecticut, Maryland, and Pittsburgh.

Although Chism's knowledge of UNC is limited, he said he's definitely curious about the Tar Heels.

"From what [Thigpen] says, it seems like a good school," said Chism. "He said I could play early. I'm interested.

"I haven't really made any favorites. I'm just taking a look at everybody until I narrow it down."

Chism, who is looking to narrow it down before his senior football season kicks off, will be focusing on coaching staff, facilities, academics, and environment.

North Carolina has yet to extend Chism a scholarship offer, but he said he feels as if they are close. He has been offered already by Boston College, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Temple.

Chism is being recruited as both a wide receiver and defensive back. UNC, though, is recruiting him exclusively as a cornerback.

As a junior, Chism collected 98 tackles and seven interceptions at cornerback, and caught 47 passes for 800 yards nine touchdowns at wide out. He received honorable mention All-State honors as well as first-team All-Conference and Defensive Back of the Year for his conference.
