Coples Returning to the Recruiting Trail

After taking a break from recruiting during the early summer months, Quinton Coples is preparing for a month full of campus visits.

"I haven't been doing too much [with recruiting]," said Coples. "I think July I'm going to actually start getting out there. Right now, I've just been working out and doing some conditioning."

While the details are still being mapped out, Coples is considering trips to Florida, Georgia Tech, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio State.

Coples, a 6-foot-6 230-pound defensive end from Kinston (N.C.), has collected over 30 scholarship offers including offers from Florida, Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina, NC State, Ohio State and Tennessee.

With such little recent focus on recruitment, it comes as no surprise that Coples is still wide open.

"I don't have any favorites," said Coples.

Coples said he is targeting the end of July to begin to name favorites, using his campus visits as an aide.

"[I'm looking for] a high student-athlete graduation rate, a coach with a winning mentality, and a place that makes me feel at home," said Coples.

Charlie Williams is Coples' primary recruiter at UNC. The two speak over the phone a few times a month.

"He just asked me how I'm doing and how school is going," said Coples.

Sources have informed Inside Carolina that Coples is considering a transfer from Kinston, though he wouldn't go so far as to confirm that.

"It's just rumors," said Coples. "So far, it looks like [I'll be staying at Kinston]."

As a junior at Kinston, Coples collected 63 tackles including seven sacks.
