Boykins, a 6-foot 200-pound wide receiver from Chesapeake (Va.) Smith, has narrowed his list of options to three schools, with two on top.
"Right now, it's between Maryland and UNC, mainly," said Boykins. "UVa is still in the running, but they're a little farther back.
"Maryland, both of the games I went to, the fan support was just crazy – it was something like I've never seen before. And the coaching staff is pretty cool and I like the football facilities.
"North Carolina, I met Butch Davis, the receivers coach [Charlie Williams], the offensive coordinator [John Shoop] – I met the majority of the coaching staff and they're real cool peoples. And I know about Butch Davis' past history at Miami. They got seven members from the NFL on their coaching staff now.
"Virginia, they offer me the chance to make an impact to the team early in my career. They said I won't have to redshirt and I can make an impact as a freshman."
Boykins has twice visited both Maryland (football game against Miami and basketball game against UNC) and UNC (junior day and one-day camp). He also made a visit to UVa three weeks ago.
Between July 24th and July 27th, Boykins will visit Maryland yet again for his final unofficial trip before deciding.
"[This visit is to] see the dorms and everything and outside of the football facilities," said Boykins. "In the previous times, all I had seen is the football facilities."
Boykins doesn't have a particular date set, but he plans on making a verbal commitment shortly after that visit.
"Major factors are going to be: is there going to be a quarterback there that can get me the ball, and what're my chances of seeing the field," said Boykins.
