Despite the arrival of three incoming freshmen, linebacker is arguably UNC's greatest position of concern for the 2008 recruiting class.

Over the course of next two seasons, UNC will lose up to five linebackers to graduation. Included in those graduates are two potential 2007 starters and four from the preseason two-deep.

True freshmen Bruce Carter and Quan Sturdivant, who both enrolled last January, are excellent additions that will assist in filling the gaps.

However, fellow true freshman Linwan Euwell will start out with the linebackers, but could eventually grow into a defensive end.

Additionally, UNC was counting on bringing in signee Albert Craddock this fall. But his academic situation has forced him to spend at least a year at Pearl River Community College. He'll lose a year of college eligibility with each year he spends in the JuCo ranks.

The UNC coaches are looking to add two to three linebackers to their roster with the 2008 recruiting class -- in addition to Craddock.

Albert Craddock
6'2" 200 lbs. 4.60
Poplarville (Miss.) Pearl River Community College

In March '06, Craddock verbally committed to UNC after receiving a scholarship offer during a junior day. He also claimed offers from Auburn, NC State, Texas, and Virginia Tech.

Failing to qualify, Craddock will have to spend at least one year at Pearl River before arriving at UNC.

Craddock is a great combination of power and speed. His frame will allow for plenty of extra weight.

Last year, Scout.com ranked Craddock as the 26th best linebacker in the nation and branded him with a three-star rating.

During his senior season at High Point (N.C.) Southwest Guilford, Craddock made 65 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions - returning one for a touchdown. He also rushed for 917 yards and 11 touchdowns from his fullback position.

Targets With Offers
Arthur Brown

6'1" 225 lbs. 4.50 Wichita (Kan.) East High School
Scout.com ranks Brown as the top overall prospect in the nation. In June, Brown narrowed his long list of options to 22 schools with UNC making the cut. He will narrow his list to 16 in September. Hurting UNC's chance is the fact that's he's yet to take a visit to Chapel Hill. He has visited Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.
Ebele Okakpu

6'1" 200 lbs. 4.60 Roswell (N.C.) High School
There is a very strong chance that Okakpu will be UNC's next verbal commitment. After visiting UNC in early July, Okakpu said UNC had "a little bit of a lead." He has also visited Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina -- all have offered. Okakpu will visit UNC this Friday and has hinted that he might pledge to UNC during his stay.
Kevin Reddick

6'2" 210 lbs. 4.60 New Bern (N.C.) High School
Reddick has claimed UNC as his leader since the spring, but is nowhere close to making a verbal commitment. After visiting more of his interested schools, he will have a better idea of the timetable of his commitment. Alabama, Clemson, East Carolina, NC State, South Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech have all offered.
Etienne Sabino

6'3" 230 lbs. 4.65 Miami (Fla.) Krop High School
Following his first visit to UNC, which was among his first visits, Sabino named UNC his leader. He has since cooled on that notion. Sabino, who has over 40 offers, has now visited Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Tennessee. He will decide after taking official visits, but before his December graduation. Sabino has picked two official visit destinations thus far - LSU and USC.
Sean Spence

6'1" 195 lbs. 4.70 Miami (Fla.) Northwestern HS
With several of his teammates pledging to Miami, Spence has been the subject of strong commitment rumors. However, he maintains that he'll commit later this year. Spence has only visited two schools -- Florida and Miami. He has offers from Alabama, Central Florida, Miami, Minnesota, Mississippi, and Rutgers, - and has said that UNC will be one of his official visits.
