Two weeks ago Strickland, a 6-3 junior guard at Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick, claimed Ohio State, Florida, Michigan State, Indiana, North Carolina and Villanova as his top group of schools. He and his family have now scheduled visits to three of those schools, but first they'll visit Rutgers on September 7th.
The very next weekend Strickland will head to Gainesville and take in their football game against Tennessee. After a few weeks at home, he'll hit the road again for Indiana and their midnight madness festivities.
The last visit they have scheduled is to North Carolina, for the weekend after the Indiana trip (Oct. 19-21). The Tar Heels offered him a scholarship back in June and have made Strickland one of their top priorities in the class of 2009.
Although Strickland is taking a handful of unofficial visits before his junior season, he likely won't make a college decision anytime soon. Halsey pointed out that these visits are more for future reference.
"Seeing that he has a lot of opportunity, we just want to get a feel for what's really, really out there as opposed to hearsay. We want to actually get out there ourselves and visit the campuses and meet the coaches and get the feel for the program and style of play.
"This is a matter of getting out there and trying to narrow it down for next year, so when he takes an official visit he has an idea of his top five schools. We are just trying to narrow it down."
Although a date hasn't been finalized, Strickland will likely take a visit to Ohio State during the next two months.
In the latest rankings by Scout.com, Strickland is the top-ranked point guard in the Class of 2009 and the No. 10 prospect overall.
