In addition to UNC, Howard will also be taking official visits to Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Ohio State. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback from Miami (Fla.) Krop has already set a date with the Buckeyes – October 19th.
Howard claims scholarship offers from the four aforementioned schools and says the quartet make up his favorites list.
"I've always wanted to visit Ohio State for a long time, because they are big on tradition and their football team always seems to be in the top rankings," Howard said.
"I've visited Georgia Tech, but I couldn't really visit everything because I left early. For the most part, everything I visited during that day I liked. So I just want to finish visiting to see how everything is.
"I've liked Florida State for a long time, because one of my coaches played at Florida State. And I've heard a lot about them – how their program is. I just want to take a little tour up there to see how everything is.
"At North Carolina the coaches, they're real nice and cool guys, and I liked my first visit there."
Coming off of his unofficial visit to UNC over the summer, Howard labeled the Tar Heels his leader. He says that's not necessarily the case anymore.
"I haven't heard from them in a long time, so I don't know if they're pulling back on me," said Howard.
Normally, Howard speaks to UNC recruiting coordinator John Blake and UNC defensive back coach Chuck Pagano.
"Lately, I haven't talked to them in a little while," said Howard. "But usually I talk to them once a week. But I haven't heard from them in a couple of weeks."
However, Howard noted that his mother receives a weekly phone call from Blake.
In just three games, Howard has recorded three interceptions and returned one of those picks for a touchdown. He also returned a kickoff 87 yards for another score. Krop is 3-0 and play a tough Miami (Fla.) Norland team on Thursday.
