"Blue Blitz" Planned for Kenan Stadium

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- North Carolina fans are encouraged to wear Carolina Blue to this week's game against NC State as part of the "Blue Blitz" campaign.

The Blue Blitz campaign was started by the Carolina Athletic Association (on-campus student group) and the UNC Athletic Department, but has joined forces with several different organizations, including the General Alumni Association, Rams Club and the Carolina Club to promote school spirit this Saturday against the Wolfpack.

The UNC marketing office will distribute 50,000 Carolina Blue pom poms in Kenan Stadium on Saturday, and as part of the promotion, Chapel Hill Sportswear is offering Carolina Blue T-Shirts for just $6 this week.

Bunting said his team is anxious to get back in front of its home fans in search of its first win of the season in Chapel Hill.

"We won't be able to beat NC State unless our fans are out there," Bunting said. "I'm hoping they'll be out there wearing blue. We need to play a very fine football game in order to beat NC State, but we won't be able to do it without the fans."

Additional temporary bleachers were installed at the east end of the Stadium to accommodate the demand for tickets for the Texas and NC State games this season. Saturday's game against the Wolfpack has been sold out for weeks.

"We're relentless in what we're trying to do with this football team, and we're relentless with what we're trying to do with our football fans. We have great fans, and I expect their support."
