Instead of coming this weekend for UNC's ACC bout with Miami, Womble will visit the weekend of October 13th when the Tar Heels' host another one of his finalists – South Carolina.
Womble, a 5-foot-11, 215-pound tailback from Sierra Vista (Ariz.) Buena, took his first official visit about a month ago to Boston College.
"It was a good visit," Womble said. "I enjoyed it – had a good time up there; good atmosphere; good game day experience." Womble will also officially visit Nebraska, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. While he has to reschedule his trip to Lincoln, he is set to visit the Badgers on November 10th (versus Michigan) with teammate Jake Muasau and the Gamecocks on November 24th (versus Clemson).
Despite published reports stating otherwise, Womble says things are equal among his finalists.
"I don't have a leader right now," Womble said. "I'm pretty much even with my top five choices.
"After I take my official visits I'm going to sit down and go through everything with my family and see what's best. We're going to look at everything. I mean, we're going to look at every little detail."
Since landing a top flight tailback is imperative for the 2008 recruiting class, UNC has put the full court press on Womble.
"I talk to Coach [Steve] Hagan often; Coach [Kenny] Browning calls every week; I've talked to Coach [Charlie] Williams and Coach [John] Blake; I talked to Coach [Butch] Davis one time – I talk to all the coaches," Womble said. "They are just telling me I have a good chance of coming in and playing right away, and they need some running backs for the future."
Womble has been disappointed with his senior season thus far, as Buena has managed a 1-4 record. But from a personal standpoint, Womble has rushed for over 700 yards and nine touchdowns and is 400 yards away from Buena's career rushing mark.
