Plumlee got to Chapel Hill Friday evening and took in the season opening festivities. He returend Saturday morning for the Tar Heels first full practice and for the football game.
"It was fun to watch," he said. "It was my first real college practice that I'd ever sat in on. It's neat to see some of the similarities between what we do and what they do and also how much harder they practice and how intense it is."
While on campus, the Arden (N.C.) Christ School star got a chance to talk to Coach Williams. The Tar Heel head coach told him he was looking to see more improvement before he offers a scholarship.
"Coach Williams came down and watched one of our workouts in open gym," Plumlee said. "He said that was the first time he'd ever seen me play. He said he's interested and that him and/or his staff will be back as much as they can, which is six more times."
"He told my coach that he wants to see my defense improve on the perimeter. I think that's part of the reason he's going to come back when he's allowed to, so he can see if I'm improving."
The 6-foot-11, 210-pound power forward has picked up scholarship offers from Indiana, Michigan, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, UCLA, Louisville, Georgetown and Stanford.
