UNC Still Tracking Reddick

Focused on his senior season, recruiting has been virtually an afterthought for Kevin Reddick.

"I haven't really been going anywhere," Reddick said. "ECU is right down the street, so I've went to two ECU games. I haven't really made it to anyone else's games or made any visits."

Reddick, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker from New Bern (N.C.), has also fielded weekly phone calls from East Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.

From North Carolina, both Tommy Thigpen, UNC's linebacker coach, and Charlie Williams, Reddick's primary recruiter, are in contact with Reddick.

"If one calls, the other one will be right there," Reddick said. "They're just making sure I've got everything straight – keep my grades up and all that. They've talked about getting me up for [an official] visit. They haven't really thrown any dates at me, but it will come after the season."

Reddick says he'll definitely take official visits to UNC and East Carolina, and is considering official trips to Clemson, NC State, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

All of the aforementioned schools have extended Reddick a scholarship offer as well as Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Throughout most of the summer, Reddick was considered a strong UNC lean. That appears to no longer be the case.

"Right now, I don't really have a top school," Reddick said. "I'm just weighing out my options."

Reddick said he figures to make a verbal commitment in January after taking all of his official visits.

New Bern will host Raleigh (N.C.) Sanderson in the first round of the NCHSAA 4A State playoffs Friday.

In just 11 games, Reddick has accumulated 126 tackles and three interceptions. In addition to being the centerpiece of New Bern's defense, Reddick has been utilized as a short-yardage fullback collecting a handful of rushing touchdowns and a couple of two-point conversions.
