Bowman, a 6-4, 210-pound wideout from Chattanooga (Tenn.) Notre Dame HS, visited Chapel Hill this past weekend.
"Tuesday, Adarius surprised our coaching staff when he told them that he had decided," Notre Dame HS athletic director Howie Sompayrac told IC. "He is planning to announce his decision Friday. You could say it is looking pretty good for the Tar Heels."
Bowman also received offers from such schools as Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Auburn, and Marshall. He is the 16th ranked wide receiver in the nation, according to TheInsiders, but could move higher in the rankings by the end of his senior season.
The Tenn. star set a school record with 1,300 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns as a junior on only 47 catches. His spectacular junior season earned him First Team All-State honors, and he was also named Mr Football for Division 2A [picture above with trophy]. He was last timed at 4.49 in the 40.
"Bowman possesses long arms that makes him seem even taller than he is," TheInsiders scouting report reads. "Good speed, size, route running, and hands. An ideal WR prospect "
In late August, when IC asked Bowman what the most important factor in his decision-making process would be, he responded -- "Education. I will look at the depth chart at the schools that are under consideration. I also am interested in seeing how the players enjoy being at the school. It will be a place that I will spend four or five years at so I want to try and be sure that I will be happy there."
Stay tuned to IC for the latest on this breaking news ...
