Brown's mother is encouraging the 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker to take the visit.
"She's pressuring me like, ‘Go visit -- just to visit,'" Brown said. "I'm like ‘Mom, I already know what school I'm going to.'"
Next week, per his father's request, Brown will take an official visit to Tennessee. As expected, he'll officially visit Maryland, but a date for that trip has yet to be established.
A native of Columbia (Md.), Brown enrolled at Hargrave this past fall to improve his academic situation.
Last spring, Brown pledged to Maryland. After his recruiting stock rose, Brown reopened his recruitment, but recently solidified things with Maryland. Apparently, that commitment is now not entirely solid.
"[UNC] made contact with me earlier in the season before I committed to Maryland," Brown said. "They just made contact with me again. It's not going to hurt to talk to them."
UNC would like to add Brown's speed to their linebacking corps.
"They want me to play ‘WILL' – same with every school," Brown said. "I'm fast. They said they like my speed."
At Monday's Winter Workouts at Hargrave, Brown recorded a jaw-dropping 4.39 40-yard dash, a 4.25 shuttle time, a 30-inch vertical and posted 13 reps of 225.
As a senior a Wilde Lake High School, Brown rushed for 1,537 yards and 20 touchdowns and collected over 90 solo tackles.
Last winter, Brown went 29-0 on the wrestling mat with 17 pins and five technical falls. He then found success in track, winning the Class 3A title in the 100-meter dash (10.67 seconds) and 200-meter dash (21.52).
