Telemaque's Recruitment Progressing

Vaughn Telemaque entertained his first in-home visit a couple of weeks back when North Carolina sent John Blake to Long Beach (Calif.).

"He was just letting me know that they still have interest in me and they want me to have interest in North Carolina," Telemaque said. "He was just telling me how everyone was doing and what they look forward to in the future. He told me it's a great up-and-coming program and how strong it's going to be."

Last week Telemaque hosted his only other in-home when Southern Cal's Rocky Seto visited the 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety.

Outside of the in-home visits, Telemaque's sole focus has been on his senior football season and Poly won the Southern Pac-5 (I) Section.

"The season went great," Telemaque said. "We went in with one goal and that was to win our sectional championship and we came out with that goal. So I'm feeling great right now about our season."

Telemaque ended the season with nine interceptions, 92 tackles, and four forced fumbles.

With his senior football season wrapped up, Telemaque will pick up where he left off with his recruitment and continue taking official visits. He has already visited Michigan, UNC and Oregon.

"I got another offer from Miami on Friday, so I plan to go out there in January sometime," Telemaque said. "[Southern Cal] or another school that has offered I'll use as my fifth official visit."

Telemaque continues his recruitment without a leader. However, he welcomes Miami to a favorites list that already included Michigan, UNC, Oregon, and Southern Cal.

"I was leaning towards Michigan and then with the loss of Lloyd Carr, I just kind of fell back and now I'm just trying to break it down even more to a different level," Telemaque said. "Right now, with the offer from Miami I think I have five – with the same four and just add Miami.

"I'll probably have a breakdown of at least two or three schools by the end of this month or the beginning of January. I'm just getting the recruiting process back in order and going from there."

UNC has a solid chance of making Telemaque's cut to two or three schools.

"North Carolina is right up there," Telemaque said. "I know they're a building program. I think that it's a nice campus when I went out there and I felt really comfortable. They're still on my mind.

"I'd liked to have another in-home visit [with UNC] and talk to Coach Butch [Davis] and just get a feel for how they are and just let my parents get a feel for them, too."

Davis is expected to make his lone allotted in-home visit with Telemaque in January.
