DC LB Schedules UNC Official

North Carolina assistant coach Tommy Thigpen stopped by Washington (D.C.) Woodson High School last week to gather information on Evan Frierson, including game film.

"He said when he gets back to the office, he's going to have Coach [Butch] Davis watch my highlight tape, because he said he really wants me," Frierson said. "All he has to do is get the say-so from Coach Davis and I'll get an offer [from UNC]."

Frierson, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker, already holds scholarship offers from Akron, Illinois, Ohio, and Tennessee.

During their conversation Thursday afternoon, Frierson and Thigpen were able to setup an official visit to UNC for the weekend of January 11th.

Frierson's trip to Chapel Hill is sandwiched between official visits to Ohio (Jan. 4th) and Tennessee (Jan. 18th). This past weekend he officially visited Illinois. He said at this point he doesn't have a leader or a timetable for a decision.

Since the fall, Frierson and Thigpen have maintained weekly communication.

"We talk about football, academics – you know," Frierson said. "He's a good guy. When I talk to him, he always gives me advice about the whole recruiting process and everything."

Thigpen sees Frierson as an outside linebacker.

"He said he likes the fact that I can run, I always fly to the ball – run [or] pass – and I can tackle well," Frierson.

Frierson ended his senior season with 79 tackles including eight sacks, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles.
