Setting up a UNC official visit has also been a major topic during Dennard's weekly phone conversations with Thigpen.
"We've been talking about it," Dennard said. "They didn't say when they wanted me to come up. They said we have to schedule an official visit, though."
Dennard, who hopes to have his UNC visit scheduled soon, will take official trips to UAB on January 4th and Troy on January 11th.
Recently, Thigpen informed Dennard that UNC is recruiting him as a wide receiver.
"It depends on the team, but I'm mostly being recruited for cornerback," Dennard said. "[UNC] said [they like me at receiver] because I can make plays with the ball in my hands."
Dennard has played both positions for Wilcox County. He ended his senior season with 38 catches for 790 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also collected five interceptions.
While UNC has yet to offer Dennard, he claims offers from Alabama, UAB, Central Michigan, Clemson, Purdue, Troy, and Western Michigan.
Recently, Dennard developed a soft list of favorites.
"I have three favorites – Troy, Clemson, and Alabama," Dennard said. "Troy wants me to play as a true freshman. Clemson, I like Death Valley. [With Alabama, I like] the coaching staff, especially Nick Saban."
While Clemson and Alabama are recruiting Dennard, they've yet to invite him for an official visit.
