Bass, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound wide receiver from Warner-Robbins (Ga.) Northside, was briefed on the situation right before he left campus Sunday during a meeting with Butch Davis.
"It was great talking to him," Bass said. "He's straight up with you, and let's you know the deal.
"He talked about my grades, where I was academically. He told me, they're most likely going to offer me."
If things fall into place for Bass, UNC will be adding another Georgian to their verbal commitment list.
"If they offer me, I'll commit," Bass said. "North Carolina, they're on the top of my list.
"The way they treat their athletes goes without saying. [I like] the whole atmosphere there, the people were great, the coaches, everyone around the program [were great]."
In the meantime, Bass will continue to take official visits. While he doesn't have anything scheduled, he has been talking to both Georgia Southern and Valdosta State about visiting.
During Bass' UNC stay, he was hosted by sophomore wide receiver Kenton Thornton.
"We met with the coaches," Bass said. "Then the host showed us around campus and showed us the academics."
The highlight of his trip was attending UNC's basketball game against Maryland.
"It was live," Bass said. "The fans were all into the game. Even though they lost, there was still great intensity [from the fans]."
Saturday night after the game, Bass sat down with Charlie Williams, UNC's wide receiver coach.
"We were just trying to get to know each other," Bass said. "He was talking about how he would put me in the slot position some, put me outside by myself on screens."
