Harris: 'It's Unexplainable'

Kenneth Harris committed to North Carolina during his official visit this weekend. Harris, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound athlete from Decatur (Ga.) Columbia, spoke with InsideCarolina.com on Sunday afternoon about his decision to commit.

When did you verbally commit?
"I verbally committed, I'd say around 11 [o'clock] this morning. They sat me in the office with Coach [Butch] Davis and he offered me. It felt good, so I committed right away."

Why North Carolina?
"They have a good educational background. And Coach Davis is good at getting people into the [National Football] League. The opportunity to play my freshman year, that stood out the most to me the most, too."

How was the visit?
"It was nice. It was real nice. I liked the coaching staff, because they all bond with the players. And the players were pretty cool – they were done to earth."

Did anyone accompany you?
"My uncle and my dad drove up."

What player hosted you for the weekend? What was it like spending time with him?
"My host was Greg [Elleby]. It was real fun hanging out with Greg. He's real cool."

Basically, what did you do on your visit?
"We got a tour of the campus; we went out and had a lot of fun."

What were your thoughts of the campus and football facilities?
"Man, it's unexplainable. It was real nice."

Did the coaches tell you what position they plan to play you at?
"Not right now, but they just explained how they see playing corner, safety, linebacker, and tight end. I think they're just bringing me in as an athlete."

"[Coach Davis] explained to me how versatile I was because I've played so many positions this year. He told me that I'm athletic and he wants me to play for their program."

Did you have a meeting with any of the assistant coaches?
"Yes, Coach [Tommy] Thigpen. Mostly, he broke down film about the position, and some of the formations, and the assignments for a SAM linebacker."
