In-State Receiver Commits to UNC

Immediately after being offered a scholarship, Vincent "Ray-Ray" Davis verbally committed to North Carolina.

"That's been my favorite school since I was young," Davis said. "I've always wanted to go there."

Davis, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior wide receiver from Monroe (N.C.) Sun Valley, chose UNC over interest from Illinois, NC State, Penn State, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Saturday afternoon, Davis was in Chapel Hill for UNC's Junior Day.

"It was real fun," Davis said. "The basketball game was exciting. The fans were really into the game."

Sam Pittman handled Davis' recruitment for UNC.

As a sophomore, Davis caught a Union County record 83 passes for 1,212 yards and 14 touchdowns. For his accomplishments he was named to the All-State, All-County, and All-Conference teams.

Davis returned to the All-Conference team after recording 49 catches for 663 yards and ten touchdowns during his junior season. He also rushed ten times for 87 yards and five touchdowns.
