We're glad to win that game. We were heavily favored. It is a matter of going out and playing as good as you could. We played good, but we played with errors. We probably missed our center and starting guard. We didn't have Montrae (Holland), and we didn't have (Antoine) Mirambeau. Mirambeau should be able to go next week. He probably could have played today, but it probably wouldn't have been wise. Kind of like Nick Maddox, who could have played but he shouldn't. So we were able to save him (Maddox), and we were able to save (Lorenzo) Booker's year of eligibility.
The thing I liked about AD (quarterback Adrian McPherson) today is that he ran better. He was kind of a dangerous runner tonight instead of slipping and sliding. That was encouraging.
They (UNC) blitzed us to death and won a lot of their battles. If we could have had our starting center and guard in there, we would have been a little bit better. But I am not disappointed in the kids that played. Those are the guys we have to count on next year.
Last year we said that Anquan (Boldin) was our playmaker, then we lost him. He is still our playmaker. We just have to get him the ball more, because he does something with it.
We still showed some inadequacies by not jumping on them (UNC) early. We took that first drive right down the field and got nothing. That is a bad sign. This was the first time we could get ahead, and I could sit back and know that we have got the game. That is the first time I've had that feeling in a long time and that is always a good feeling when you're coaching.
