Mike Fox

Opening statement:
"They certainly outplayed us and out-executed us. I really like the way they play. For a depleted pitching staff, they pitched pretty well tonight. Everybody that came out of the bullpen [pitched well], and they matched up when they needed to in the middle of the game and their relievers got it done. They made some big pitches and we just couldn't get a big hit. We couldn't get a two-out hit, which I think you have to on this stage to advance. So my hat's off to Fresno State. We'll regroup and try again on Thursday."

How tough is it to play an underdog like Fresno State?
"I wouldn't describe them as having nothing to lose. I think everybody's equal once you get out here. They play hard. They get out of the box, [and] they run hard. We couldn't keep their leadoff hitter off the base. He's red hot and every ball he hits finds a hole, and he kind of gets them started. They do what they need to. They did what they needed to tonight to win. They executed, they got a couple of bunts down.

"We dodged several bullets there with the bases loaded and no outs. We look up and we're in that situation twice… The score could have actually been much worse. I credit our guys on the mound for making some big pitches and at least keeping the game close where at least we had a shot."

On being behind:
"We don't play well when we're behind. I don't know why. Tonight we swung at a lot of balls. I thought the strike zone was small. I don't think we took advantage of it."

On facing LSU Thursday in the loser's bracket:
"We'll pitch Matt Harvey. I don't relish playing them again. We're both in the same boat. You gotta get all 27 outs against them."

Chad Flack

On being in the loser's bracket again:
"Once you get in the losers' bracket, it's always tough. But you've just got to go out and take it one game at a time and one inning at a time and just try to go out there and play your kind of baseball. And if you do that, and you execute everything that you need to execute, then you have a good chance of coming back."

"Once you get in the loser's bracket it's tough. You just take it one game at a time, one inning at a time."

Rob Wooten

On being in the loser's bracket again:
"Our backs are against the wall. We need to regroup and get ready for LSU."

Fresno State Head Coach Mike Batesole

Opening statement:
"I'm extremely proud of our seniors. This is an older group, and these eight guys have been doing right for a long time and making sure others do right too." "Sometimes it's tough for older guys to handle their piece and accept it, but these guys have all found their roles and handled them."

On leadoff hitter Danny Muno reaching base five times:
"That was a big part of it… Having your leadoff guy on and touch home, that's his job."

Fresno State relief pitcher Holden Sprague

On making the UNC hitters expand their strike zone:
"Yeah, we were able to make them expand the zone a little bit – they're an aggressive team and they make you work. We got a lot of help from our outfielders verbally, telling us we could throw strikes. They had our backs all game."

Fresno State relief pitcher Brandon Burke

On being 2-0 in the CWS:
"No one really expected this going in; none of us have ever been here before. You've got to think pitch-to-pitch and game-to-game. Some of these teams like Rice and North Carolina have been here the last couple of years and may have taken us lightly, but we just go out there and play hard every game."
