Heels Lead in Postponed Game

OMAHA, Neb. -- No. 2 North Carolina jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead over No. 7 LSU before inclement weather halted play at 7:27 p.m. EST. The game was eventually suspended three hours later, and will be resumed at 7:08 p.m. EST on Friday night. The Tar Heels will return with the bases loaded and one out.

Dustin Ackley singled to left field to start the game for North Carolina, and Tim Fedroff drove him home with a double to right-center field.

LSU starting pitcher Blake Martin was wild off the mound to begin the game for the Tigers, hitting Tim Federowicz and Kyle Seager at the plate before walking Chad Flack to score UNC's second run of the game.

Garrett Gore will be in the batter's box facing an an 0-1 count when the game resumes Friday.
