Bond Visits UNC, Sets Official

Travis Bond attended his first North Carolina game last weekend with the intentions of checking out the game day atmosphere of Kenan Stadium.

"I just loved it," Bond said. "[I really liked] just how they emphasized on the football team about all the great things they do."

Throughout the game, Bond, a 6-foot-7, 323-pound offensive tackle from Windsor (N.C.) Bertie, paid particular attention to UNC's offensive line.

"From my point of view, I feel like I can come in and play real soon on the offensive line," Bond said. "Some of the stuff they do I feel like I can do, if not better. I'm not trying to sound cocky or anything – that's just how I feel."

Bond, who arrived prior to pre-game, had to leave during the third quarter. When he departed, T.J. Yates was still under center for UNC and the momentum was on the side of the home team.

"[The Tar Heels] were looking real good," Bond said. "…I was impressed by some of the offensive spots and some of the defensive spots."

On Wednesday night, Bond held his weekly conversation with Sam Pittman, UNC's offensive line coach. The two were able to tentatively schedule an official visit for the weekend of December 6.

"The first weekend of December is the plan right now, but it might change," Bond said. "It depends on the Shrine Bowl and all the other stuff comes out."

Bond has also scheduled an official visit with Michigan (October 25 versus Michigan State). Additionally, he is in the discussion stages with NC State and Virginia Tech.

As has been the case since the start, Bond isn't disclosing favorites.

"It's the same old, same old," Bond said. "I really don't have any favorites, but everything is looking pretty good right now."

Bond did admit, though, that his experiences on official visits are going to have a major impact on his collegiate decision.

"I just want to see how the school is, how it will fit me and my personality, who makes me feel at home the most, how the education is, what school would benefit me most after I graduate," Bond said.

On Oct. 4, Bond said he will unofficially visit NC State for the game against Boston College. Last fall, Bond attended games at East Carolina and NC State.
