Justin Burks Commits To ASU

"I just told North Carolina and they didn't sound real happy," Justin Burks told Larry Drake.

The former Bellflower (Calif.) standout was hosted by Sun Devil running back Mike Williams who played for rival Mayfair while Burks was in high school.

"Mike kept it real with me this weekend and I got a good feel for how close those guys are on the team," Burks said. "Coach Guy, my position coach (defensive coordinator) laid it all out for me and I was able to sit in on some of the meetings and get a better feel for the team.

"I wanted to be a part of what's getting ready to happen over at ASU. Plus, Tempe is closer to my home so my family will be able to come out and watch me play. So it was just a good fit for me."

Burks plans to come out early and get enrolled in January. He'll be able to participate in spring ball and that should put him right in the thick of the competition for a starting job next season.
