Signee Update: Prizell Brown

North Carolina signee Prizell Brown paid special attention to the NFL Draft over the weekend. When UNC tight end Richard Quinn was selected with the final pick of the second round, Brown felt even more excited about his future at UNC.

"I think that I have a great chance if I continue do my thing to make it in the draft," Brown said. "… If [Quinn] can do it, I think there's a chance for me to come out of UNC and go into the draft one day."

UNC recruited Brown, a JuCo transfer from Brenham (Texas) Blinn College, to compete for the void at tight end created by Quinn's entry into the NFL draft.

"I plan to take notes and watch film on [Quinn]," Brown said. "I'm just trying to produce and do the best I can do for North Carolina."

In the meantime, Brown, who currently stands at 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, has been following the workout plan UNC's strength and conditioning coach, Jeff Connors, assigned him.

"I try to do what I got to do," Brown said.

Additionally, Brown has spent the last few months building a relationship with his future position coach, Allen Mogridge.

"He's supposed to come down [Friday], so we're looking to have a good time [Friday]," Brown said.

Since Mogridge was hired by UNC in early March, he and Brown have communicated at least once a week.

"[He talks] just about how there's a big chance I can step up and get some [early] playing time," Brown said.

For a junior college transfer to be academically qualified, he must graduate from his two-year college with an associate's degree.

Following Blinn College's Summer I semester, Brown says he will meet all graduation requirements and head to Chapel Hill. The Summer I semester ends on July 2.
