Opening Statement:
"Disappointing obviously - we did not give ourselves a chance to win. As a coach you have a dream - a nightmare about it - you wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night about those kind of innings where you can not get an out. You can't get the first one, you can't get the second one then you can't get the third one.

"You have to give Virginia credit - we made some good pitches and they got some hits and we made some not so good pitches and they got some hits. It is just one of those things that happens and we couldn't recover. We did not compete tonight offensively really to give ourselves a chance. They most certainly deserved to win."

Fox on the huge catch by Tyler Cannon in the first:
"I think it was. I wish I had started the runner there - I wish I had started [Ryan] Graepel there 3-2 with [Dustin] Ackley hitting and perhaps Cannon would not have caught that ball if he was heading to the bag. You start thinking about those things when you are down 10 runs - I think that helped him [Danny Hultzen] there - he did not look quite in rhythm just starting off that he had in the game at our place. Give him credit - he just kept battling of course any time you get a 10-run cushion it certainly helps you on the mound - you do not have to be as fine on the mound."

Fox on Virginia's big third inning against Alex White:
"I don't expect that from Alex, but it's just one of those things that happens in baseball. It happens against good teams, it happens against the aluminum bat. You saw a couple of those tonight and that's not to discredit Virginia in any way. They hit some balls hard."

Fox on knowing before the game that with Duke's win the Heels could head to the finals with a win tonight:
"Well I did not say anything to the team about that. You have to play the game in front of you. If you need motivation at this point - or we need to do this or we should do that you are going to play mind games with your kids that usually don't work. Like, 'We need to do this to host' ... that is not how we try to approach games. We just want to make sure we are ready to compete - I don't know if our players knew that or not - I certainly did not say anything to them - it is a moot point now."

Fox on the scenarios to have the Tar Heels head to the finals:
"We just want to get back out on the field and hopefully play a little bit better against Clemson and give ourselves - to have a chance as the game goes on to be in the game and have a chance to win the game. When you give up 10 in the third - we are not a good enough offensive team to recover against a good team like Virginia. We will try to control what we can control tomorrow."

Fox on coming back from a blowout as compared to close game:
"I think so. You go and leave here go and replay every play over in a one run game like a lot of us do. I told the guys to move past this - no sense in talking about it and just be ready to play tomorrow."

Alex White on the third inning:
"It's just one of those innings where I made some bad pitches and they got hits and made some pretty decent pitches and they got hits. I couldn't seem to find and out when I needed it or a big strikeout. It is just one of those things that happens and we'll move on."

Brian O'Connor's Opening Statement:
"That was obviously a huge win for us, to have an opportunity to battle it out with Duke tomorrow night to go to the title game. Really, it's one of the stranger games that I have been involved with in my coaching year - to face a guy like Alex White, who is one of the top pitchers in the country if not the top pitcher and score 10 runs in one inning is really remarkable.

"It's amazing what can happen on a team when your confidence is high and guys start clutching up and getting big hits. It just seems to snowball and that's what happened in that inning. Obviously that inning was the complete story of the game. That, and I thought Danny Hultzen pitched a really good ballgame tonight and got us off to a great start."

Catcher Franco Valdez on the 10-run inning:
"It was fun to be in the dugout after my at bat was over, after I was off the bases, just to see our team continue to get those hits and continue to have great at bats. It was fun to see us actually get a lot of things together and score 10 runs on guys like Alex White and (Brian) Moran."
