Fox Opening Statement:
"It was a terrific game. You have to credit Clemson for getting the big hit at the end. That was just a great game and I'm sure it was entertaining for the fans. We made some good plays and some not so good plays. We had our chances, like when you get your three and four hitters at the plate with guys on base - that is what you want. We just couldn't come through with the big hit there when we needed it. Our kids played hard, Clemson played hard. There were two good programs going at each other with a lot of respect. It was a really good college baseball game."
Fox on being in Durham with the largest crowd to watch a college baseball game in the state of North Carolina:
"I did not realize that - that is terrific. I knew it was loud. I thought they were more enthusiastic - I guess that is because there were more of them. They should come back now - they should have their money worth as that was a terrific game. That is exciting and I am glad to see they came out and were paying attention to what a good league this is. I think we entertained them."
Fox on his confidence level about being a national seed in the NCAA post-season:
"I'm not confident with any of that - I'm not confident and I'm not not confident. I really don't look at that stuff too much - it will drive you crazy. I hope our whole body of work throughout the year will be taken into account. I think we are playing at home next weekend - I certainly think we should be.
"That is the next step for us. We have got to shore up some things this week and get our confidence back a little bit. Any time you lose two heading into regionals -- we need to get back with some good practices and some enthusiasm and get some guys going a little bit."
Fox on Mark Fleury:
"It is good to see Mark Fleury today. He is such a battler and he is such an important part of our team. When he struggles it is heartbreaking because he struggles because he wants it so badly. It was nice to see him get a couple big hits today and help us. We are trying to get Jacob [Stallings] back in there after being hurt.
"We need two catchers down the stretch in case Mark would happen to get hurt. Try to get Jacob in there against some lefties because he is one of our options - he is a right handed hitter. More than anything else we taxed Mark I think a lot down the stretch. He will be ready for us next weekend."
Fox on Matt Harvey:
"He battled today. He battled today - just kind of creeped in there and gave up some hits. There was no tomorrow for us without a win and so we kept getting Brian [Moran] up and down. I thought it was one of his better outings. Clemson is a good hitting team - especially their lefties. They squared some balls up and he made some big pitches when he needed to and we did not make a play behind him there and that hurt. We gave them some runs and they gave us some runs."
Johnson on his throwing error in the 11th inning:
"I knew it was going to be a quick play - I just tried to make a play."
Johnson on pitching with the bases loaded in the 11th:
"Really with the bases loaded I think you don't have to pitch so fine. Just catch more of the plate - you don't want want to walk in the run you want to make them hit it."
Johnson on the final pitch:
"It was a fastball. I knew he got it pretty good."
Bunting on regrouping and making a run for Omaha:
"I think we just need to regroup and take a step back and look at all of the things that we've done good and bad. We just need to focus on getting it done for next week with a fresh start."
Bunting on his slide to break up the double play:
"When Dusty [Dustin Ackley] hit it I knew that I had to try to beat it and when I saw it was close and I saw him spread his legs I tried to go into him cleanly without getting the interference call and getting Dusty out too."
Bunting on Casey Harman:
"He just kept us off balance with his off speed stuff. For some reason we could not stay back and those low pitches we kept getting out in front of our stance."
JACK LEGGETT, MIKE FREEMAN, WILSON BOYD & CASEY HARMAN
Leggett Opening Statement:
"It was a really, really good college baseball game. Both players pitched really well and there was clutch hitting both ways and some good defensive plays. They are a very good baseball team and today I felt we played the way we needed to play. It was a great competitive game. It was one of those epic, classic baseball games."
Leggett on freshman pitcher Casey Harman's performance against the Tar Heels:
"I'm just really proud of the way Casey started the game off. He went out there and neutralized a strong hitting team."
