Bond Set to Enroll

Initially it appeared that North Carolina signee Travis Bond had some academic work to do before arriving on campus. However, Bond is now projected to qualify.

"On my transcript I don't think they had my classes down for honors classes, so it made my GPA look low," Bond said. "Once they counted it as honors classes, everything went fine."

The news has been a huge relief for Bond, a 6-foot-7, 310-pound offensive lineman from Windsor (N.C.) Bertie.

"It feels great," Bond said. "It feels good to know that I'm actually going to be a Tar Heel."

Bond has been told by the UNC staff that he will compete for playing time this fall at offensive tackle.

"I'm looking forward to playing, just learning the system as it moves along, and getting my [academic] stuff together," Bond said. "I'm just hoping and praying everything goes right my first year."

Bond said his main goal is to earn freshman All-American honors.

Originally for precautionary reasons, Bond was scheduled to take the SAT this Saturday. Since he's now projected to qualify, he won't be taking the test.

Bond will arrive on campus on June 15.
