Givens Visit Cancelled

Just as quickly as it began, UNC's recruitment of Darrell Givens has come to an abrupt halt.

Givens was informed by North Carolina on Monday morning that the university's admissions process would take a week, sources close to the situation informed InsideCarolina.com. With players reporting for training camp on Thursday and practice starting Friday, that would mean that Givens wouldn't know his enrollment status or be able to join the team until preseason activities were already underway.

Givens has therefore decided not to visit UNC (as he was scheduled to do on Monday afternoon) and is no longer considering the Tar Heels.

Sources report Givens is now expected to end up at Rutgers, which offered him the ability to enroll immediately and starts practice later.

Givens is rated by Scout.com as the No. 11 cornerback in the class of 2009 and he was named to the Under Armour All-American Game. He signed with Penn State in February, but cut ties with PSU cut ties late last week after an admittance problem.
