Junior Season Highlights:|
"During class changing, my coaches were outside the door and they told me to come over there for a second," Bryson said. "They congratulated me and told me I had a scholarship from North Carolina."
Smyrna's coaches mass mailed Bryson's film to colleges nationwide, including UNC.
"I wasn't expecting [the offer]," Bryson said. "… I was expecting some [offers] my senior year, but I wasn't expected it this early."
Being the first school to offer means a lot to Bryson.
"I'm taking that in a lot," Bryson said. "It's making me think."
The offer makes Bryson think enough to crown UNC his leader.
"I love the colors and I've always liked them," Bryson said.
Bryson is awaiting his second scholarship offer, but believes Kansas State is close to offering. He is also fielding significant interest from Alabama, LSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame.
Last week, Bryson called UNC assistant coach John Blake.
"He was telling me about how it is down there, he wants me to visit, he can't wait for me to come visit," Bryson said. "He told me good luck with my season. He talked about the new [additions] to the stadium and how excited they are about that.
"He wants me to call him that Monday before my visit so he can tell me how it's going to be."
Bryson has started at Smyrna since his freshman season, which he finished with 1,298 yards and 11 touchdowns on 298 rushes. Injuries caused his production to drop as a sophomore (900 yards and four touchdowns). Thus far this season, he has accumulated roughly 600 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns.
