Bunn Qualifies

North Carolina commitment D.J. Bunn is now academically qualified.

"Coach [John] Shoop called me [Monday] and told me I got qualified," Bunn said.

"I'm just real happy. It's a blessing. I worked hard for it, so I'm just real happy about it."

Bunn, a 5-foot-11, 187-pound defensive back, will enroll at UNC in January for the coming spring semester.

Last February, Bunn signed with UNC out of Smithfield-Selma (N.C.) High School. However, he failed to qualify. Thus, prepped at Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy.

This coming weekend, Bunn will take his UNC official visit. Teammates and fellow UNC commitments Johnnie Farms and Jerrell Rhodes will also be officially visiting. UNC hosts Miami Saturday. The trio were also in town last weekend for UNC's win over Duke.

"Last year I took my official visit in January, so I didn't really get to experience a game on an official visit," Bunn said. "I want to be around the game and the players and the coaches."
