Gray: 'I am ready to be a Tar Heel'

Charlston Gray says he is ready to join John Bunting's football team at North Carolina. But he is also glad the recruiting process is over.

"It's exciting, I am ready to be a Tar Heel," Gray said. "I am ready to step on the field."

Bunting, along with coach Hal Hunter, landed the talented Texas lineman, who was an honorable mention AP all-state selection during his senior season.

"Probably as gifted an offensive line as we've had here … very, very active … great feet, great finish … great upside ...," Bunting said of Gray during his recruiting press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Gray, a 6-3, 265 pound offensive lineman, said he spoke with the coaching staff and told them he was ready to get going at UNC. He recorded 43 career pancake blocks at Fort Worth Dunbar, and tallied 54 tackles – including eight tackles for losses and four sacks. Gray said the people at UNC won Gray over.

"Everyone got along and it felt like a second home to me," Gray said of his official visit to Chapel Hill. "They made me feel at home and that was what I liked the most. It won't be hard to be that far from home [there in Chapel Hill]."
