Ginyard to Miss Presbyterian Game

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- North Carolina senior guard Marcus Ginyard will not play in tomorrow's basketball game against Presbyterian as a precautionary measure as he completes a medical evaluation for pain in his left foot.

"Marcus has some ‘early' pain in his left foot in an area unrelated to the stress fracture he had last year in his fifth left metatarsal," says Dr. Tom Brickner. "We are putting him through an evaluation at this time, but preliminary tests are encouraging. He does not have a fracture."

Ginyard missed all but three games in late December-early January last season and received a medical waiver that allowed him to play a fifth season in 2009-10.

He has started all nine of Carolina's games this year and is the team's third-leading scorer at a career-best 10.4 points per game. He leads the team in three-point field goal percentage and steals and is second in assists.

The Tar Heels (7-2) play host to Presbyterian Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Smith Center.
